Functional and Diagnostic Medicine Consultations

"Focusing on Health before Illness"

At Professional Integrative Medicine we will listen carefully to the story you share, asking focused questions to clarify important aspects of your health. We believe the basis of good patient care involves providing information to inform our patients' choices about their future health plans, including discussion of evidence-based complementary and alternative treatments alongside nutrition, life -style, and other medicines. Patients appreciate a doctor who takes the time to listen and carefully formulate a diagnostic and management plan. Many long-standing and difficult illnesses have many overlapping and contributing factors.

The first appointment is usually involves some old-fashioned 'detective work', collecting as much information as possible to put the pieces of the puzzle together. We encourage patients to bring any past blood tests, investigations, reports, scans or anything else to help improve the quality of these meetings. Following taking a detailed history, a focused physical exam can help uncover further clues, as can investigations including blood tests, hormone studies, nutritional, toxicity, and imaging tests as appropriate. Some of these may be eligible for Medicare rebates, however Medicare generally does not provide reimbursement for functional medicine. We have developed good relationships with functional pathology providers to offer the most competitive prices on functional testing and other specialised tests not covered by Medicare.

A standard first consultation is 60 minutes. Both 15 minute and 30 minute follow-up appointments are available as well as 90 minute extended consultations. Concession discounts may apply for several PIM services.

Phone consultations

"Reaching out to where we are Needed"

Phone consultations are available if travel is difficult. Understandably, sometimes the information gained through a phone assessment is more limited, and these are best suited to follow-up consultations. Diagnostic test kits, pathology request forms, prescriptions, and supplements can be mailed to patients to make things as assessable as possible.
